For warehouses that are configured for auto-resume, there are several key behaviors that needs to be considered:
- Queries submitted to a warehouse that is in an auto-resume state will be queued until the warehouse transitions into a STARTED state.
- Queries that are waiting for a warehouse to be available will not time out. They can be cancelled as needed.
- The time it takes to resume a warehouse depends on the availability of resources in your server pool. If there are already servers in the pool then warehouse resumption can be completed in seconds; however, if the pool is empty, then new servers need to be provisioned which will impact warehouse resumption.
- Warehouse server provisioning has a timeout value of ~18 minutes, in which case a Snowflake provisioning failure incident will be created.
If you are experiencing a high frequency of provisioning taking longer than 10 minutes, please submit a Support ticket with details of the long running incidents.
